If you’re looking to make a big splash and incorporate some of these trends into your yard, let’s see what we can do to make it happen.
Keeping pace with pools
It seems a pool is still very much a staple when it comes to adding to the overall vibe of backyard. Their popularity hasn’t waned and it has a lot to do with the value they add to a property. The addition of a pool is a great way to maximise the usable space on your property and the pool technology we have access to these days, makes them even easier to maintain.
What’s on trend with pools
One of the interesting things designers have pointed out is that cold plunge pools are still a big thing, in particular above ground versions where the external part of the pool is used like a barrier fence.
If you want a pool with a different shape, think semi-circle, the trend of curves and arches are in.
If looking after your own health and wellness is more up your alley, small pools with swim jets that allow you to keep your active fitness routine going from your own backyard, are very much an in thing.
It seems pools are also still seeing the green and blue tiles which have been around for a long time, but porcelain tiling is creeping in, giving off a natural stone feel while being durable and non-porous.
Other designer trends to watch out for
While pools are a big part of the outdoor trends, so too it seems are things like outdoor fireplaces instead of firepits and wellness arenas with amenities such as outdoor saunas (infrared, traditional or steam) and pre-fabricated ice baths that look like hot tubs, which can be heated if desired.
Home owners and designers are also enjoying a love affair with natural stone, including outdoor paving and tiling which seems to be taking over from decking.
And when it comes to the garden, native plants aren’t going anywhere, but are being mixed with exotic plants for a more balanced effect. Plus handmade pots are featuring in the garden, but set up with drainage, irrigation and lighting, so they’re plumbed into the garden as a permanent fixture.
